眾所周知,細(xì)節(jié)題在英語(二)閱讀中比重最大,其中因果細(xì)節(jié)題又是出現(xiàn)頻率很高的一類題,那什么叫做因果細(xì)節(jié)題呢?
如若題干出現(xiàn)了because.../in that.../due to.../for...等等,就可判斷是因果細(xì)節(jié)題啦。
識別完題型后,接下來就是根據(jù)題干關(guān)鍵詞定位找答案了。
我們以2011年Text 4第36題為例:
[A] are competing for the leading position
[B] are busy handling their own crises
[C] fail to reach an agreement on harmonisation
[D] disagree on the steps towards disintegration
Yet the debate about how to save Europe's single currency from disintegration is stuck. It is stuck because the euro zone's dominant powers,
通過題干中的because可以確定,此題為因果細(xì)節(jié)題,再根據(jù)題干關(guān)鍵詞“The debate over the EU’s single currency is stuck…”直接定位到第三段第二句話,經(jīng)過與選項比對,選項C與原文高度吻合。因此,正確答案為C。
然而,有些時候,你可能會發(fā)現(xiàn),原文并沒有because這類詞啊,那我們應(yīng)該如何尋找答案呢?
27. The author of the research article are optimistic because
[A] the problem is solvable

[C] the recruiting rate has increased
[D] their findings appeal to students

題干出現(xiàn)了because,判斷此題為因果細(xì)節(jié)題。關(guān)鍵詞定位到第二段第一句話,這里沒有出現(xiàn)because此類詞啊。仔細(xì)看,你會發(fā)現(xiàn)有一個“as”,as可以引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句呢,它有“因為”的意思,因此答案就在這,“因為它勾勒出了這個問題的潛在解決方案”。對應(yīng)選項A。(注意不要誤選B)
除了because這些熟悉詞可接原因外,還有as,since等詞也可以引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句哦。
我們再以2012年Text 2 為例:
……Unfortunately, L. A. Unified has produced an inflexible policy which mandates that with the exception of some advanced courses, homework may no longer count for more than 10% of a student's academic grade.(Para1)
This rule is meant to address the difficulty that students from impoverished or chaotic homes might have in completing their homework. But the policy is unclear and contradictory. Certainly, no homework should be assigned that students cannot complete on their own or that they cannot do without expensive equipment. But if the district is essentially giving a pass to students who do not do their homework because of complicated family lives, it is going riskily close to the implication that standards need to be lowered for poor children. (Para2)
題干關(guān)鍵詞“L. A. Unified”在第一段,但沒出現(xiàn)“the rule”,繼續(xù)往下文看,它在第二段第一句話“this rule”其實就是指的是上文提到的L. A. Unified made the policy about homework ,并且此句話出現(xiàn)了“poor students”(“students from impoverished or chaotic homes”同義替換),但這句話就是沒有出現(xiàn)because這類詞啊,下文也找不到,那原因到底在哪里呢?“is meant to”表目的,目的在某種程度上可以等同于原因,所以我們把答案鎖定在第二段第一句,選項C就是原文的同義改寫,所以正確答案是C。
本道題解題關(guān)鍵在于,目的=原因。為了更好理解,舉個中文例子。
題目:我為什么每天熬夜背單詞?
答案:因為我要學(xué)好英語。
那還有哪些詞可以表目的呢?
to/want to/in order to/for/aim to /be designed to /intend to/the purpose….
